Couric and Lauer discuss possible syndicated show on ‘Today’

As speculation mounts that Katie Couric and Matt Lauer are giving the prospect of hosting a syndicated talk show together "serious consideration," they might as well talk about it on TV, right?

The two former, possibly future co-anchors appeared together on Wednesday's "Today" show for the first time since 2006, when Couric left the program to host the CBS "Evening News." Couric was ostensibly there to promote her new book, but she dished to Lauer on what she wouldn't give up to Barbara Walters the day before.

"I think it would be fun for me," she said about the potential talk show. (Lauer steered clear of drawing attention to his own rumored participation.) "You know me, Matt. ... It might be nice to have a little more wiggle room to show my personality." Though Couric also insisted she just might remain in the "Evening News" anchor chair. "I'm hoping [to make a decision] in the next few weeks," she said.
