    Final 2011 debate ratings: ABC/Yahoo News most-watched of all; Fox News claims cable crown

    The final numbers are in from Nielsen, and the ABC/Yahoo News Republican debate on Dec. 10 was the most-watched of the 12 GOP debates in 2011.

    The ABC/Yahoo News primetime debate drew 7.63 million total viewers--nearly a million more than second most-watched debate--Fox News' Dec. 15 forum, the final Republican debate of 2011.

    The ABC/Yahoo broadcast also claimed the top spot in viewership among 25-54-year-olds, drawing 2.1 million viewers in that advertiser-coveted demographic.

    Fox News had the two most-watched GOP debates on cable: Dec. 15, which drew 6.71 million viewers, including 1.87 million 25-to-54-year-olds; and Sept. 22, which drew 6.11 million total viewers, with 1.7 million 25-to-54-year-olds  in the viewing audience.
