Mitt Romney admits he’s suddenly doing Fox News interviews because he’s trying to make a ‘closing argument’

Mitt Romney--who has largely stayed out of the media's glare while fellow GOP candidates like Newt Gingrich and ex-candidate Herman Cain have been scrutinized--has appeared on Fox News four times in the last week, and is set to appear on "Fox News Sunday" on Dec. 18 in what will be his first Sunday talk-show interview in nearly two years.

Why the apparent shift in strategy? As Holly Bailey of The Ticket reports, it's part of what Romney calls his "closing argument" for prospective voters.

"I'll be on Fox a lot because you guys matter when it comes to Republican primary voters," Romney told Neil Cavuto.

He appears to be right. According to a New York Times/CBS News poll of likely caucus-goers in Iowa, nearly 40 percent of those surveyed get the majority of their news from the network. Among Fox News viewers, nearly half of them are backing Newt Gingrich, while just 12 percent are backing Romney.
