Rupert Murdoch on ‘Fox and Friends’: ‘I don’t like monopolies when I see them’

News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch and Fox News head Roger Ailes appeared on "Fox and Friends" on Friday--part of the cable network's 15th anniversary celebration.

Murdoch was asked why he took a chance on Ailes and the concept of a network as an ideological counter to CNN and MSNBC.

"I just had a hunch, you know, that there was room for another point of view," Murdoch said. "I don't like monopolies when I see them."

"Unless you own them," Ailes said.

As the Huffington Post's Rebecca Shapiro noted, the "Fox and Friends" hosts--Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade--appeared nervous with their bosses on the set. At one point, Kilmeade thanked Murdoch and Ailes "for allowing us to sit here."
