"The Post, for all its rabble-rousing and sometime apparent disapproval of gays, is the id of New York's power elite, masquerading as superego. I think what's really happening here is a case of almost literal speechlessness: The thin cover treatment of gay marriage as a signpost for the Post's identity-crisis as a conservative paper. Who among Rupert Murdoch's friends, whether they're at Fox News or the Wall Street Journal editorial board or board members of Fortune 500 companies or political and social power-players who hang out on his yacht is likely to personally, truly oppose gay marriage?"
