Ben Franklin would like the world to know he is conducing a kite in a storm #experiment, and Charles Darwin, in case you didn't know, is a big fan of Movember.

Welcome to Histagrams, a new blog that features historical figures as they might appear via social media, posing for selfies, hash-tagging iconic historical events, and adopting the language of pre-teens.

The blog describes its title and mission in a fitting scholarly tone:

Histagrams

: History depicted as Instagrams.

his·to·ry (noun)
: the study of past events, particularly in human affairs.

in·sta·gram (noun)
: an online photo-sharing, and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures, apply digital filters to them, and share them

The result is Rosa Parks complaining she's too tired to sit at the back of the bus and Einstein declaring his genius one filtered photo at a time. Some of the characters featured, however, aren't real people, such as Dr. Alan Grant of Jurassic Park and his toothy Instagram friend, Rexy2Sexy.

PetaPixel reports Gusto NYC and Gavin Alaoen created the site after the former thought of the idea on the subway.

[I] wondered what it would have been like if it was around 5 years ago, then I thought 10, 20 years ago, but why stop there?” Gusto NYC told PetaPixal.
