We've always known that Beyoncé was one savvy lady. Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards served to prove this, with the star causing an internet frenzy when she revealed her pregnancy news.

Twitter went wild, recording 8,868 tweets per second as she performed. This set a new record, smashing figures from the World Cup and Royal Wedding.

Just a few weeks ago, Beyoncé gave an interview to Piers Morgan in which she gushed: "Now I'm a woman, I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children." However, no one guessed her secret.

When the announcement came, it was timed to perfection. Beyoncé worked like a true diva, waiting to reveal her news in front of an audience of millions.

Not only did she look amazing and give a typically fabulous performance, but midway through her standing ovation, she ripped open her jacket to show off the beginnings of a baby bump and cried: "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside of me!"
