Holder issues stern warning on domestic terrorism

In a rather blunt interview with ABC News, Attorney General Eric Holder essentially warned Americans to keep their guards up and expectations low when it comes to terrorism. The attorney general bluntly asserted that Americans "have to be prepared for potentially bad news."

"What I am trying to do in this interview is to make people aware of the fact that the threat is real, the threat is different, the threat is constant," Holder told ABC's Pierre Thomas. "It is one of the things that keeps me up at night."

Holder says that the country has seen a dramatic rise in homegrown terror threats during the last two years. Without referencing any specific incidents, Holder seemed to be alluding to far right-wing groups frustrated by the election of President Obama and fearful that the government may be infringing on their rights.

"You didn't worry about this even two years ago -- about individuals, about Americans, to the extent that we now do," Holder said. "The threat has changed from simply worrying about foreigners coming here, to worrying about people in the United States, American citizens -- raised here, born here, and who for whatever reason, have decided that they are going to become radicalized and take up arms against the nation in which they were born."
