New jobless claims fall more than expected

The number of new unemployment claims fell more than expected last week, according to government figures. That could be a sign that the struggling labor market is finally picking up steam.

The number of Americans filing first-time claims for jobless benefits fell to 404,000, from a revised total of 441,000 last week. New claims haven't fallen by that much in a single week since February.
