Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth, who founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rev. Ralph David Abernathy, died on Wednesday at age 89. Shuttlesworth was jailed more than 35 times during his fight to end public segregation in the 1950s and 60s.
