Ohio town pockets $21K in loose cash found along highway

With the economy struggling, many local governments are finding themselves strapped for cash lately. But one Ohio community has received an unexpected windfall.

Back in March, police in Delaware, Ohio found loose cash along U.S. Route 23. One officer said at the time it looked like the highway median was growing money.

The city held onto the loot to see if anyone would claim it. But no one did, so the money -- $21,000 in total -- will go into the city's general fund.

Authorities are said to believe the money was from a drug sale or some other illegal activity.

In May, a Utah man found more than $40,000 in cash in the attic of a home he had just bought. In response, he contacted the family of the home's deceased former owner.
