Derek Jeter and Jake Peavy attend LSU-Alabama college football game

The New York Yankees are sure getting around during college football season. Last week we saw Alex Rodriguez roaming the sidelines as his — well, almost his — Miami Hurricanes were thumped by the Florida State Seminoles. And apparently he returned there this weekend for "The U's" home loss to Virginia Tech. However, the big story this weekend was the other half of New York's left side of the infield, Derek Jeter, making the trip to Tuscaloosa for the big LSU-Alabama game.

It's safe to say he was very visible, too, since everyone who attended the game plus their mothers tweeted a photo or story of an encounter. Here's a look at some of those tweets, including a photo with Tampa Bay Rays outfielder and division rival Desmond Jennings.

Unlike A-Rod, it's not quite clear who Jeter was pulling for. He was spotted on both sidelines prior to the game and later in a suite.

Apparently the stars of Jeter's caliber don't come to Tuscaloosa very often.

Needless to say, it was a big deal to have Jeter in town.

Speaking of which, Jake Peavy, Boston Red Sox pitcher and proud new duck boat owner, was also in attendance on Saturday night. In fact, Peavy made an appearance on ESPN's College Gameday broadcast earlier in the day and played the role of guest picker during their prediction segment. He correctly picked Alabama.
