‘Game of Thrones’ Star Natalie Dormer Recruited for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’

The number of players in "The Hunger Games" is growing as "Game of Thrones" beauty Natalie Dormer is set to play the role of Cressida in the two-part "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," which Lionsgate has announced via Twitter.

Cressida is a resident director from Panem whose camera crew is charged by Plutarch Heavensbee (to be portrayed by Philip Seymour Hoffman in this fall's "Catching Fire") with documenting Katniss Everdeen's activities in the rebellion against the Capitol in the hopes of creating various propaganda materials to increase morale amongst the rebels. Cressida, along with her crew members Castor and Pollux and assistant Messalla, end up joining the rebellion themselves.

According to The Hunger Games Wiki, Cressida is described as "a young woman whose head is shaved bald and tattooed with vivid green vines," so Natalie Dormer may be joining the ranks of actresses who have gone bald for a genre role, such as Natalie Portman (for "V For Vendetta"), Sigourney Weaver (for "Alien3") and, most recently, "Doctor Who" alum Karen Gillan (for "Guardians of the Galaxy").

Natalie Dormer is currently best known for her role as the ever-charming, ever-scheming Margaery Tyrell on HBO's "Game of Thrones." She'll be seen this fall opposite Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howard's "Rush," opening September 27, and as 'The Blonde' (a Cormac McCarthy character name if there ever was one) in director Ridley Scott's "The Counselor," opening October 25.

The saga of "The Hunger Games" will continue later this year with the release of "Catching Fire" on November 22. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" will hit theaters on November 21, 2014, followed by "Part 2" on November 20, 2015.
