Tough times for Seton Hall as losses and roster attrition mount
Seton lost to St. Peter's 83-80 in overtime Saturday for the first time in 18 years and might have lost guard Sterling Gibbs to a knee injury in the process.
Gibbs was injured in the waning moments as he attempted a game-tying shot. He is Seton' Hall's leading scorer and assist man this season.
"We won't know for sure until (Sunday) afternoon after he gets his MRI," Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard told the Star-Ledger. "But it doesn't look good."
The Pirates were already off to a bumpy start to the season with losses to Mercer, Oklahoma and Fairleigh Dickinson before the disappointing setback against the Peacocks, who were 2-6 prior to the game. And earlier this week, the Pirates learned guard Tom Maayan was leaving the program to return home to Israel to fulfill his military service commitment.
In addition, backup big man Aaron Geramipoor to a sprained ankle that could keep him out for 2-3 weeks, according to the Star-Ledger.
Willard has just two games left before the start of the Big East slate to figure out how many healthy bodies he has to work with and how to use them.
