Report: Alabama fires assistant who provided impermissible benefits to Clinton-Dix

Almost two months after being placed on leave for providing impermissible benefits to a player, Alabama assistant strength and conditioning coach Corey Harris has now been relieved of his duties, the Tuscaloosa News reports.

Harris was indefinitely suspended in early October after the school’s compliance department learned that he had provided Crimson Tide defensive back Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with a short-term loan of less than $500 during the summer. Alabama’s compliance department also learned that Harris has a connection to a representative of a sports agent, but it was determined that Clinton-Dix had no relationship with the agent or representative.

Clinton-Dix turned over bank statements showing that he repaid the Harris, but the NCAA prohibits coaches from providing money to a student-athlete. That rule includes loans.

Clinton-Dix served a two-game suspension before being reinstated before the Arkansas game.
