    • Meet NYC’s most expensive rental

      Curbed

      By Sara Polsky

Stand aside, Cole Porter! The lyricist's 5BR former apartment in the Waldorf-Astoria, last asking $150,000/month, is no longer the city's most expensive rental. That honor now belongs to the Astor Suite at The Plaza, a 5,087-square-foot apartment that hit the market today for $165,000/month (furniture and art included!). The Post identifies the apartment's owner as Esprit founder Jurgen Friedrich, who bought it for $25 million in 2007 and was unable to resell at an eye-popping ask of $55 million. We know what that means: renovation!

    • Curbed

By Paul A. Johnson, Curbed Hamptons

This Bridgehampton estate is set on a whopping 4.7 south-of-the-highways acres, hence the monstrous $28.5M ask. The 8000 sq. ft. home—renovated in 2007—has been featured in magazines and has played host to garden tours and fundraisers alike and we can see why. Check out the brokerbabble:

"[The] shingled home [offers] truly, great rooms, large kitchen, plenty of bedrooms and baths for family and guests, pool side sunroom, out of the way tennis court, acres of gardens and open lawn with huge shade trees, garages and a host of modern amenities."

Perfect for shaking down friends for their charitable donations. And no Hamptons home would be complete without a heated, gunite pool—of course this has one. But, in case you'd rather take a dip in the ocean, the Atlantic is just down the road.

    • Off-duty NYPD cop busts unruly jet passenger

      NY Daily News

By Barry Paddock, New York Daily News

A vacationing Bronx cop on a flight home from the Dominican Republic is being hailed a mile-high hero for taking down a berserk passenger who attacked a flight attendant.

"Even when I'm on vacation, I'm still a police officer," said Anibal Mercado, 39, who patrols in the Bronx.

"The only difference is it was 12,000 feet in the air."

About an hour into JetBlue Flight 832 to Kennedy Airport, an unruly passenger a few rows behind Mercado got loud.

Antonio Ynoa, 22, was pestering a flight attendant for soda to mix with his duty-free rum, Mercado said.

The flight attendant told Ynoa opening duty-free alcohol onboard was prohibited and repeatedly told him to put it away.

The unemployed Ynoa, who was returning to New York from visiting his wife in the Dominican Republic, carried on drinking and yelling profanities, Mercado said.

His belligerent behavior sent the two women he shared his row with — both with babies on their laps — scurrying to the front.
