and yet we let 10 million illegal Mexicans many uneducated with little or no English skills stay and send this young lady back to a country she has never known? That makes a lot of sense!!

I don't blame Nadia in this case. I blame the parents! The dad has a green card and never applies for citizenship. Evidently, has an illegal wife who bears three American children? The government should grant Nadia an immediate citzenship and then revoke the dads green card and send the parents back to Bengladesh for stupidity beyond recognition!

I blame the father... we were in the exact same situation but my parents fought hard to get us all legal residence and then we became citizens, easiest thing to do. What happen here is that the father came to this country either legal or illegal then brought his wife over and just never took it any further. All he had to do was apply for citizenship. In 1990, I cost $90 and one year… nothing hard about it… once he had his citizenship then his wife would have been almost automatically eligible for citizenship too … Most people illegal (or partially legal) in this country are too afraid of doing things by the book because they feel guilty and yet they keep expecting things to be handed to them. It’s like this; you went into someone backyard illegally and now you’re afraid of knowing on their front door.

Deportation should be part ofthe punishment when tried. Not next Week or next month.
      • Gene 7 mths ago
Any company working anyone that is illegal should be fined &have to pay the taxes they should have paid.
      • Grace 7 mths ago
Clearly, the father came legally. He is a Permanent Resident. Second, the mother and daughter also came here legally. It became an illegal situation when she stayed past her tourist visa expiration.

Anyone that is in the US illegally and commits a crime (DUI) (DWI) or such should be deported before they sober up.
      • Nicholas G 7 mths ago
Sounds like you are either Christian or Republican. Crimes I agree with, but those people who are here trying to better their lives should be given priority consideration. Are you angry at someone?
      • Winged Avenger 7 mths ago
Republican christians are the only ones who have a chance to save this country. Commit a crime in the land of the big PX, wake up back in the third world hole you crawled out of.
      • Nina 7 mths ago
Republican christians are the ones destroying this country.

I would also have to assume that the mother was here illegally and because of that more children were born into the USA. I say that revoke the fathers green card and send them all back to Bangladesh since it seems that the father was also complicit in this crime on USA soil. These children were born here illegally! What type of message does it send when we allow the rest of these illegals to stay here also?
      • Ameribrit83 7 mths ago
Um the younger children were born here so there is nothing illegal about that.
      • Signetring54 7 mths ago
Ameriberth83- It looks like you have selective reading skills. You missed the entire point. I hope that some day the veil will be lifted from your eyes. Our countries morals and values and disintegrating daily because of moral relativism. If you don't what this is, that's too bad. Your response is a clear and unabashed indicator of moral relativism though. Look it up and evaluate yourself against it to see just how twisted this kind of thinking really is.
      • Jardoz 7 mths ago
@Signetring54 - Do you have dyslexia? I did not understand what you wrote. I think you don't understand 'moral relativism'. Seems like it was a new phrase you had to learn for the day and couldn't wait to plug it. No, you look it up and tell the audience what it means, how it applies to the discussion and make your point. Why should I do your failed homework?

Why did her Mother not apply for their citizenship when they came here. The father has a green card, they should have got one also. The mother is to blame for her daughter being sent back to India by not appling for their citizenship. All illegals in this country have sad stories, but laws have to be followed and enforced.

What about all the illegals coming from south of the border ?? I never see any stories of them getting deported ! What's wrong with this picture ?
      • JB45 7 mths ago
The illegals coming from the south, that get caught, are deported so often that it is not news and doesn't get symphitic treatment. This is just an attempt to gain some publicity.
      • Byrd101 7 mths ago
It isn't just Mexicans that come up from the South or down from the North. Some fly in on visitor visas and just never leave. They marry here and if not working are off the radar. That is until some thing happens. Years past if they didn't commit a crime no one caught them. Now there is more reasons for them to be outed.
Right now the biggest push is to get illegals that are known criminals deported before they offend here and get locked up at our expense. Locked up they cost tax payers to keep them for sure. All illegals though should use the system or be deported. Many that come here illegaly do so because they would fail to meet standards to come legally. That however doesn't mean they got here by sneaking over the border. They just used means that were legal and then stayed past time to go back. That then makes them illegals. Some think it is worth the risk just to get here and forget how will they stay and work. Many already have family or friends here that help them to find a way. Some may be here legally and help those who aren't to find ways to work and stay.

And yet we can't deport illegal alien felons form another country.
      • Alien 7 mths ago
        humm ...humm ....nope..
      • Aaron 7 mths ago
        haha its america woo hooo
      • Z 7 mths ago
Right, and we make little or no attempt to address the issue. But here we have a well doucumented person who presumably has a DL, ID, SSN, etc but oh no, she must go because she 'doesnt belong?. What a joke we have become.

This girl's father -- the Green Card Holder -- has obviously had DECADES to apply for citizenship and never did. Once he does that he can petition for his wife and adult child to LEGALLY join him in the US. My wife is foreign-born and WE FOLLOWED THE RULES and I paid all the bloody processing fees myself even when I could hardly afford it. I tell the mother and daughter to go hang out in Dhaka for a while and apply to return LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!!!

BTW, if you buy your own ticket back to Bangladesh rather than having us tax-payers foot the bill, you can take as much luggage as you like!

It is a sad situation for their family , it was also a preventable situation. If Nazmin Habib and her daughter had applied for green cards or temporary citizenship (permanent legal resident status ), they would not be in this spot now
    • Doc  •  7 mths ago
The U.S. needs to change the law to ONLY children born to United States citizens are to be considered natural born citizens . All other children born in America to those people here illegally or legally with green cards, visa's etc. are determined to be citizens of the parents country of citizenship. This would be a huge step in dealing with the issues of many illegal aliens and deportation situations. Just a suggestion.
    • all for one-one for all  •  7 mths ago
Hmmm... is there a lesson for illegals here? How about - follow the rules - they are for everyone.
    • Pasquale  •  7 mths ago
So her family took care of themselves (father has green card) but neglected his daughter? Seems he is to blame and not our laws.....
    • Cosmos  •  7 mths ago
Her parents should have thought about this a long time ago!
    • Signetring54  •  7 mths ago
They can cry all the tears they want to. The bottom line is that they are here illegally! Go through the process that everyone else must go through to get here. Not come here on a visitor Visa and stay here! They have abused the system and have shown that they can't honor their commitments. Good-bye!
    • Ernest  •  7 mths ago
Just 19 and still not a citizen? Hey you had plenty to obtain a green card and citzenship. Now you want to cry.
    • Elle  •  7 mths ago
This is her father’s fault. If her father was a green card holder he could have claim her before she hit the age of 18. But that would imply that her father would have to pay taxes and declare income like everyone else, which I bet he probably doesn’t. They both could have been here legally if they wanted to but they wanted to take the easy way and not pay taxes. Sorry Charlie, you pay or get out.
    • sterno  •  7 mths ago
parents should of taken care of the legal aspects while she was a child
    • Bob W  •  7 mths ago
Isn't it odd how this article does not mention her father's part in this fiasco?
Did he ever legally marry her mom?
Has he ever done anything to avoid this happening?
This article appears to have been written in a very distorted manner, attempting to make the Immigration and Customs officials look like the "bad guys"!
    • Jeff H  •  7 mths ago
Tough. Law is the law. Blame your dad, not the law.
    • Alyssa  •  7 mths ago
So....She is 19 and the father never got her or the mom citizenship???? they just werent on top of their game and now that everything fell thru they are scrambling for things to do I feel bad but this is why you have to follow the rules and procedures I know citizenship takes a long time but seriously?? that was procrastination at its best smh
