Attack of the snails!

Francophiles rejoice! One Florida town is experiencing an explosion in its snail population, in numbers that will make a sous chef's mouth water.

Giant African snails in Coral Gables are doing the one thing that they don't do slowly: reproduce. This particular species is one of the largest in the world, growing up to eight inches in length. Momma snails can lay up to 1,200 eggs a year.

These prolific gastropods are consuming hundreds of different kinds of plants and can damage plaster and stucco.

Escargot, anyone?
