Antonio Brown: 'Undisciplined' Vontaze Burfict is 'an idiot'

Members of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals were sworn enemies even before their wild card playoff game last month, when things got out of hand in the closing minutes. Notably, Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict knocked out Steelers' receiver Antonio Brown, coming across the field and drilling Brown in the head at full speed.

The NFL Burfict has been suspended for the first three games of the 2016 regular season for his actions, and Brown clearly has no plans on forgiving him anytime soon. Nor will he be breaking bread with cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, who said Brown's reaction to the hit was an acting job was deserving of an Oscar.

Jones apologized publicly to Brown when Brown was unable to play the next week, against the Denver Broncos, because of the injury, and also sent Brown a text. But in an appearance on PFT Live from the Super Bowl on Thursday, Brown indicated Jones's words fell on deaf ears.

“I lost tremendous respect for him when he went on record saying that I winked at him,” Brown said. “I was unconscious, I didn’t really even remember what had transpired so for him to say something like that is totally a coward, it’s idiotic.”

But Brown saved his harshest words, and rightfully so, for Burfict, whom Brown said he has not heard from.

“Nothing at all from that guy,” Brown said on PFT Live. “You know what kind of guy he is. What type of player he is. He’s a real unprofessional-like player. An undisciplined player. You saw the hit against me. Late, unnecessary. …It caught up with them and we were able to win the game.”

And Brown didn't stop there.

On Pittsburgh station 93.7 The fan, Brown said, "“I feel like guys don’t want to stop me no more. They want to take me out. They want to kill. They want to steal my dreams. They want to ruin me. They want to end me. We’re not going to let them. We’re going to win more."

On the Dan Patrick Show, when asked what he would say to Burfict, Brown replied, "He's an idiot."

Brown said he was unconcious before he hit the turf from Burfict's hit, and that there was no chance he was going to be able to play the next week against the Broncos.

"I wish I could have been out there with my teammates. I’m living with regrets that we could have been in the Super Bowl," Brown said. "I had no energy, bad balance, dizziness, headaches. I wouldn’t have been able to play.”

Brown could have played in the Super Bowl had the Steelers advanced, he said.
