At Puck Daddy, we celebrate Jersey Fouls daily on our Tumblr page and once a week on this site with our Jersey Fouls of the Week.

Most of the fouls involve some sort of defacing of an actual jersey. Rarely do they include someone using body art as homage to a favorite player.

Check out the above foul, in which the fouler proudly shows his back inked in “Messier” with the World Trade Center, and the words “never forget” and the Sept. 11, 2001 date.

In order to try to explain this foul, one of Messier’s marquee moments with the New York Rangers was a 30-minute ceremony before a home game on Oct. 7, 2001 – not long after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Before the game, Messier famously wore a fireman's helmet as a tribute to first responders from the attack.

Still, is this enough to try to combine Messier with such an event and tattoo both on one's back? Also, the fouler seems to walking around bare-back in order to show off the tattoo, which only adds to the foul.

There’s a lot going on with that photo, enough to where the person deserved his own post, rather than being lumped in Jersey Fouls of the Week.

We broke this down on the Marek Vs. Wyshynski Podcast, around the 50-minue mark:

Just a reminder that a foul can also include body art, and not just a jersey. Make sure to email us at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com or mention us on Twitter with the hashtag #jerseyfouls, and we'll give you credit!
