Cara told the station, “I didn’t think much at all. I just jumped down in there and got him out.” That was just the start of the granddaughter’s amazing rescue. After the pint sized hero pulled her 230-pound grandfather to shore, Cara then had to move him a quarter of a mile to their car. Coy’s cell phone was at the bottom of the pond, so they were unable to call 911. “He’s leaning on me and I’m basically carrying him. I think it was the hardest thing that I’ve ever done,” said Cara.

Esca, Coy’s wife, was there and Coy was taken to the hospital where he stayed for 6 days. Later the medical staff found the cause of the grandfather’s stroke, a small aneurysm. “We’re just so thankful that everything worked out and Cara’s adrenaline kicked in and she did what she had to do,” said the grandma.

Mr. Jumper said that he has no memory of the incident aside from hitting the water but he knew the gravity of the situation. “I’d say I owe her my life ‘cause, I don’t know, I couldn’t get out by myself,” Coy told the station. "It's just one of them things, you know just, it’s hard to believe, but it happened you know?...I'm just glad she was here, that's the main thing."
