When one takes a bite of food, they expect to only be eating food, and not something that definitely isn’t food, because only food is food. With that inmind, I think it’s fair to say that most people would be upset with their food if something that wasn’t food was inside their food. And as WTOL Toledo News Now reports, an Ohio man is just that: not happy with the nonfood item he claims he found in his food: fishing line.
Carl Sanderson and his girlfriend, Jodi Gibson, headed over to the Ocean Garden Buffet in Toledo this week to grab some dinner. Sanderson told WTOL, “As I was eating the crayfish, I felt something tickling in the bottom of my throat…I felt something on the side of my lip, so I reached for it and I pulled it out and it was a fishing line…about a foot long."
When Sanderson complained to the wait staff, they said it was his fault and that he had brought it in with him. He got his meal on the house. Yet, Gibson was still asked to pay.
WTOL spoke with the manager of Ocean Garden Buffet. He told them their seafood comes pre-cooked (yum), and “We do our best to prevent anything from happening to our food. I know that something probably happened in this case, but this did not happen to two people and no other customers had this problem so we got his meal solved."
However, WTOL points out a viewer’s photograph of chicken with plastic in it served at Ocean Garden as well. Though they don’t have many reviews, Yelp users have a generally positive view of the establishment.
