This Sandcastle Might Hold World Record
Do you have a rewarding career? What if your job was to constantly build things that will eventually be washed away by a wave? Sounds like a beach-going child's nightmare.
But for sand artist Rusty Croft, it's all in a day's work. When you are a professional sandcastle maker, that's just part of the job.
Recently, though, he challenged himself to his biggest sandcastle project yet — which may also earn the distinction of being the world's largest sandcastle.
Standing at 39 feet, it took nearly a week and 20 truckloads of sand to construct the incredibly detailed castle. Croft, who co-owns California-based Sand Guys, built the giant castle on a beach in Niterói, Brazil, with a view of Rio de Janeiro in the distance. The castle was made using just sand and water, and the construction was sponsored by Caterpillar Inc.
The Guinness World Records team made the journey to the beach in Brazil, tasked with the tough job of measuring and confirming whether the castle is in fact a record-breaker.
The massive creation will be destroyed after Guinness makes their decision, so the children at this Brazilian beach can return to building their own castles without this behemoth towering over them.
