Woman finds out there was a razor blade inside her Dunkin’ Donuts croissant the hard way
Last week Priscilla Salas made her almost-daily pilgrimage to a Dunkin’ Donuts in Windham, Connecticut to get herself a croissant. Ms. Salas tells WVIT NBC Connecticut that when she bit into it, she felt something sharp cut her mouth. It turned out that sharpy, cutty kind of feeling was coming from some metal shards, “some of which were up to a quarter long.”
Ms. Salas says that she was shocked, “Oh my god, is it what I think it is?” She’s doing fine, but is worried for others’s safety, telling WVIT, “Could be a little kid eating it and not noticing it, and just next thing you know, mouth bleeding or something. So it is concerning.”
She called police and Dunkin’ Donuts’ corporate office and Salas says that she was told the metal could possibly be from a box cutter, “They felt It was probably a frozen croissant from distribution center and they were going to find the exact location of it.”
Meanwhile, Dunkin Donuts sent NBC Connecticut a statement, calling this an isolated incident and that they’re working with the store that sold the stabby pastry to figure this whole thing out. Salas says the donut giant has apologized and will be sending her a gift card, but that she doesn’t care so much about the money as she does the welfare of others, “I just think that it’s a public hazard…I just want the public to know and to be aware what they buy andlook over everything they eat.” WVIT did not mention the extent of Ms. Salas’ injuries, but as you can see in their report, she seems fine now.
This is probably an accident and not part of the food chain’s plan to revamp their menu to attract a younger demographic. But who knows, maybe the kids like metal in their foods these days. They’re so tough to predict.
