From Hollywood Starlet to Girl Next Door: Brantley Gilbert's Newly Engaged
Country star Brantley Gilbert made headlines all over the place in early 2013 when he announced he was engaged to One Tree Hill actress/singer Jana Kramer -- a match that seemed to come out of nowhere, as the pair had remarkably managed to keep their relationship secret prior to the big reveal.
The adorable Nashville couple broke up a few months later, both keeping a low profile regarding the split. However, it seems that Gilbert has managed to pick himself up nicely: He revealed Monday that he's engaged again -- to a very different kind of woman.
"I met this little girl 10 years ago," he explained live on the Bobby Bones show, noting that his new fiancee is definitely not in the spotlight. "She's a hometown girl who teaches school about a mile up from my house."
He also revealed that many of his most romantic songs, including "More Than Miles" and "You Don't Know Her Like I Do" were written about his new sweetheart. One thing he did not disclose, however, was his bride-to-be’s name – a chivalrous act to protect her anonymity and respect her privacy.
"It was one of those things where it was on and off for a few years, mostly on, and then she was the one who got away for about five years," the singer noted. "It came back around and I can honestly say I've never been happier."
Gilbert also gave a tentative date for the wedding -- it will likely be in June 2015 -- and said his fiancee doesn't plan to give up being a working girl in order to lead a rock star life supporting her platinum-selling man on the road.
"She loves teaching," he confirmed. We'll give a "Bottoms Up" toast to that!
Meanwhile, Gilbert's former fiancee remains on amicable terms with him. In an interview this past spring with Seattle radio station 100.7 The Wolf, Gilbert said he still thought the world of her and called her “one of the most genuine people I know.”
Kramer herself moved on, too – while no rings are in sight, she’s reportedly dating NFL free agent Michael Caussin.
