Lee Brice Surprises Small Town in Nebraska with Pepsi 'Get Hyped for Halftime' Concert
The 49ers and the Packers weren't the only ones freezing their tails off this weekend all in the name of Super Bowl dreams. Country star Lee Brice -- plus a whole crowd of music fans -- braved the cold with a smile on Saturday, as he delighted the town of Milligan, Neb. with a surprise concert put on by Pepsi.
The event, Pepsi’s first-ever “Get Hyped for Halftime," was held in anticipation of Super Bowl XLVIII, which will take place Feb. 2. Miliigan, a small community with just under 300 residents, is about an hour out of Lincoln and experienced frigid temperatures over the weekend...but that didn't stop the entire town from coming out to party and dance to some of Brice's hits, which he performed outside a local restaurant.
The show was kept a complete surprise until the very last minute; a concept that Brice enjoyed: "Pepsi approached me with the opportunity to do this surprise Halftime Show in Milligan, and I absolutely loved the idea," he enthused. "As a fan of the brand -- and the Super Bowl -- it was a no brainer to do this and help Pepsi get Milligan fans hyped for Super Bowl Halftime in this unexpected way
Brice, who himself played football for Clemson University (an injury sidelined his game, but inadvertently put him on the path to Nashville instead), won't be playing at the actual Super Bowl but he'll certainly be watching -- and, now having experience jamming in cold weather, he has some advice for halftime star Bruno Mars on surviving what will undoubtedly be chilly conditions at MetLife Stadium.
His prescription: "Two shots of warm whiskey and a smile!" Now that ain't "hard to love."
