Suspect Arrested In Beating Of Giants Fan Bryan Stow
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — One person suspected in the beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow is now in custody after a series of early morning raids.
In a 4 p.m. press conference LAPD said they would issue the name of the suspect in custody later tonight.
Los Angeles police reportedly raided an apartment complex in eastern Hollywood about 7 a.m. Sunday, according to authorities.
Witnesses told reporters on scene that the man resembled one of two suspects pictured on more than 300 billboards spread across the Southland after the nearly-deadly attack on the 42-year-old paramedic.
Last week, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck revealed that a woman driving the getaway car was wearing a Dodgers jersey bearing Andre Ethier's number 16 jersey.
"This is new information," Beck said. "This has not been made public before.
"We're hoping that this jogs somebody's memory."
Stow is showing signs of recovery in a hospital bed at San Francisco General Hospital. He was flown there last week, and his parents say he faces more than a year of physical and mental rehabilitation.
Last week, Beck said the Dodgers have donated an additional $100,000 to increase the reward in the case to $200,000. The Dodgers announced last month they had donated $25,000 to the reward fund.
"Because of these billboards, because of the cooperation from the Dodgers and because of the public, we are working on over 500 various clues that have been developed," Beck said. "We have 17 detectives that work this case full time."
Stow had been in a medically induced coma at County-USC Medical Center until being transferred to a San Francisco hospital Monday. He was out of his coma but was still listed in critical condition.
