On the Market Zynga Founder Mark Pincus Lists Not One But Two SF Abodes

Where will Mark Pincus and family live now that not one but two of their One Kings Lane decorated homes is on the market? Pincus, who founded the wildly popular (even with bad boy celebrities like Alec Baldwin!) Zynga, has listed both his $8.9 million home in Presidio Heights and his $1.97 million home in Cole Valley.

Given that these are two of the city's most desirable 'hoods, we pause to wonder not only where the Pincus family will go, but why they're leaving. Zillow Blog speculates that one reason might be Vera Svenchina, a stripper turned filmmaker turned nuisance against whom Pincus filed a restraining order in Feb of last year. "Threats and bizarre emails and actual run-ins with the Russian national were enough to drive the Pincus family to a more secure locale."

How sad to let such clearly personal whimsy fall out of Pincus hands, given that Alison Pincus' fingerprints are all over the interiors: on the Gerhard Richter patterning, on the lime against the black, on each giant dog resting on acres of marble and blond wood.

But, both pads are up for grabs, so take your pick. In one corner, 3855 Washington offers 6-bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms of quirky luxury: fireplace, media room, gardens, terrace, all flowing together as if built exclusively to host the next Great Gatsby party, and to never stop. In the other corner, 1572 Shrader St. is about half the size: 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, but all the fun- with decks and views and party potential galore, all for an asking that's down $219K.

Lest you wonder about your investment potential, Curbed reminds you of the power of the IPO on real estate values, and that Zynga is headed for public trading Friday.
