Think of it as Spotify with a twist (of lemon): A new web app called "Drinkify" offers suggestions for which alcoholic beverage should accompany the song that you are currently listening to. The free service was created using the personal playlist tracker Last.fm, the music app developer The Echo Nest and a "propriety Drinkify database."

If you're not planning on drinking to a specific song, you can enter an artist's name, the app will offer an accompanying musical selection. For example, putting in "Willie Nelson," served up the Red Headed Stranger's cover of Kenny Rogers and the First Edition's "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)."

Hannah Donovan, Lindsay Eyink and Matthew Ogle developed the app at a "Music Hack Day" event held in Boston earlier this month.

I tested out Drinkify (the program, not the drinks), and here's what it recommended:

  • For Willie Nelson, an 8 oz. Maker's Mark Bourbon, served neat.

  • When sampling Jay Z and Kanye West's "Watch the Throne," a 1 oz. Canadian Club Whiskey mixed with 1 oz. of Monster Energy Drink

  • And fans of Adele are suggested to try 2 oz. of Vodka with 2 oz. of Coconut Milk and 1 oz. of Honey
