Adorable bird-shaped smoke detector saves lives by chirping

The Chick-A-Dee smoke detector can be placed anywhere in the house

Who says smoke detectors can't be as fun as they are functional? This adorable bird-shaped product called Chick-a-Dee adds a bit of charm to your home while keeping you safe at the same time. Modeled after the American black-capped chickadee, it mimics the bird's signature chirping sounds whenever it detects smoke.

As smoke thickens, its chickadee call gets louder until it reaches 85 decibels, which can be compared to the level of sounds you can hear during heavy traffic. The product created by Dutch designer Louise van der Veld previously won a design award, because the jury thought it was innovative and had a low barrier of acceptance thanks to its undeniable cuteness. Plus, installing it is pretty easy — just clip it anywhere you want to.

Chick-a-Dee recently stretched its tiny wings, and arrived in the U.S. market. You can get your own life-saving bird in white, blue, pink, green, and black and white for $75 each.

LOL.....Would the carbon monoxide version keel over and fall off the perch if it detects carbon monoxide. Now that would be funny.
