Apple to announce iPhone 5 on October 4?

New Apple CEO to provide the first look and details about the iPhone 5

Apple's new CEO Tim Cook will announce the much-anticipated iPhone 5 on October 4, according to All Things D. Rumors and hints about the iPhone 5 have circled the internet for months, but a late September or early October date has always been anticipated. All Things D cited anonymous sources "close to the situation." While anonymous sources like this usually are greeted with a healthy skepticism, we've expected a fall announcement long enough that the sources seem credible. After all, Deutsche Telekom is already taking preorders for the new smartphone.

This will be the first official announcement from Apple about the iPhone 5's release date, but we already have a good idea about what to expect. An upgraded 8-megapixel camera will help power iOS 5's new photography features, such as a rule-of-thirds overlay and instant access to the camera from the lock screen. The A5 processor is expected to power the iPhone 5, which is the same processor already enjoyed by the iPad 2. The iPhone 5 will provide wireless syncing between the iPhone and its partner computer.

The iPhone 5 will feature further integration with iCloud, announced in early June at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference. This mobile syncing service will allow you to access your files from the iPhone, your computer, or other iCloud-compatible device. It won't store these files forever, but the iCloud syncing capability seems like a worthy successor to the now-twilighted MobileMe program.

Apple hasn't officially announced the October 4 event yet, but it is expected very soon.

Even though Sprint now has the IPhone I will still stick with my HTC Arrive until my contract is up. When it is time to renew my contract I still won't buy an IPhone. The Evo 3D looks good to me.

Hey, "ThePursuitofTruth," you may be sorry but no one else is sorry about your not purchasing a product because you're a Neanderthal. (Sorry Neanderthals, I shouldn't have slandered you.)

Sorry Apple but I won't buy your products since you elected Tim Cook who practices sin of Sodomy as your CEO.
