Beer can car will provide a tasty brew, may draw unwanted attention from police

Everyone knows that drinking and driving is a bad combination, but you simply can't ignore the charm of this remarkable "Pop Top Can" roadster. A total of 1,200 of the unique vehicles were originally built by Automotive Innovations for beer giant Budweiser, but most ended up as promotional cars for other breweries such as Stroh, and thanks to eBay, you could be the next lucky owner of one.

In the 1980's, Automotive Innovations began producing the unique can-shaped roadsters and even obtained a manufacturer's license for the vehicles so they could carry a standard car title. The small shop built roughly 300 of the vehicles per year between 1980 and 1984. Based on a Volkswagen platform, including the engine and suspension hardware, the cars were then hand painted to resemble larger-than-life beer cans.

But the sudsy ride above doesn't just look the part — it features a storage compartment capable of holding a full 15-gallon keg, complete with tapper. The car appears to be in good condition and the seller notes that it runs and drives just fine. Unfortunately, driving a beer can around town might lead to a greater-than-average number of traffic stops in the late night hours, so plan accordingly. Bidding is currently up past the $2,300 mark, but if you have a cool $7,500 you can pick it up via the "Buy It Now" option.
