Double-decker bus does push ups to mock “fat Americans” visiting the Olympics

All of the world's best athletic competitors are in London right now for the 2012 Olympic Games that begin Friday, July 27. But they're not the only ones sneaking in some last-minute practice to push themselves to the limit — even London's famous double-decker buses are getting into shape by belting out pushups.

The bus isn't getting ready to compete, of course — it's a street art installation. Created by Czech artist David Cerny for the London games, London Booster is a real double-decker that's been altered to include a pair of working mechanical arms. Electric engines allow the arms to lift the six-ton bus up and down as if it was doing pushups, accompanied by audio of strained grunting.

Why bother going through the effort and expense to create an exercising bus? "It's meant for all fat Americans," jokes Cerny. "They can sort of exercise to get skinnier."
