Today in TechiPhone 5 pre-orders top two million in 24 hours
With iPhone 5 mania hitting the tech-a-sphere hard this week, it should be no surprise that pre-orders for the upcoming device are at an all-time high. Over two million people pre-ordered the iPhone 5 in the first 24 hours, shattering the previous record of one million pre-orders held by the iPhone 4S.
This is certainly good news for Apple, but not good news for those who still haven't pre-ordered. Since demand has exceeded supply, many of those who pre-ordered won't see their new device until October, while the majority will still see theirs on September 21, according to Apple. AT&T is reporting that this is also their fastest-selling iPhone in history, as analysts are predicting a total of 58 million units will sell this year alone.
In addition to US retail availability on the 21st of this month, the iPhone 5 will also be available to 22 other countries worldwide on September 28. Just be careful when ordering in Germany.
