Meet “Ms. Ernie,” the world’s oldest competitive bodybuilding grandma

Are you struggling to stay in shape? If you need any inspiration, look no further than 75-year-old Ernestine Shepherd, the oldest female competitive bodybuilder in the world.

According to Shepherd, she wasn't always athletic — in fact, just the opposite. It wasn't until she turned 71 that she took up the sport. But she isn't just doing it for her own health. She hopes to inspire others into starting a healthy lifestyle as well, ideally sooner than she did.

"If ever there were an anti-aging pill, I would call it exercise," explains Shepherd, who teaches an exercise class at her Baltimore, Maryland church. "Age is nothing but a number."

Be sure to watch the BBC's interview with Shepherd. And if you want even more inspiration to get off the couch, check out this 104-year-old paragliding wonderwoman who won fame by one-upping her 101-year-old competition.
