Pint-sized mech suit will turn your kid into a robot

Giant mechanical body suits are all the rage in futuristic sci-fi video games and movies, but rarely do they turn up in our mundane reality. Thanks to the Japanese robotics gurus at Sakakibara Kikai, the miniature bot in the video above is very real, and not only that, it's designed for kids.

Named simply the "Kid's Walker," the robotic wonder stands just over 5' tall and seats a single passenger. As you can see in the video, the pint-sized mech doesn't actually walk, but rather glides along the ground on hidden wheels. The mechanical arms and claws are entirely operational, and appear to be rather easily manipulated by the young test driver.
If you fancy yourself a mech of your own, the Kids Walker will set you back a cool 1.8 million yen, about $23,000. It runs entirely on gasoline, which doesn't win it any awards for environmental friendliness, but it's hard to argue with its cool factor.
