Rumor: New 7-inch and 10-inch Kindle Fires on the way

The big tablet news of this week was easily Google's new $199 Nexus 7 tablet, just announced at the 2012 Google I/O developers' conference. Given the device has the same basic size (7 inches) and price point as Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet, Google's new device all but invited talk of it being a "Kindle Fire killer."

Don't count Amazon out yet, though. A rumor being reported on by the Boy Genius Report (BGR) states that Amazon has a pair of tricks up its sleeve: Namely, the redesigned 7-inch Kindle Fire Coyote and the new, 10-inch Kindle Fire Hollywood.

According to the report, the 7-inch Coyote will contain a dual-core processor, just like the current generation Fire. The 10-inch Hollywood will have a more powerful quad-core processor, along with an added forward-facing camera, giving the device some firepower for taking on the industry-leading iPad. Both devices are rumored to have microUSB ports, and possibly HDMI-out ports as well.

Amazon has yet to provide any information themselves on the new tablets. But if the BGR report is indeed accurate, we can expect to see these new Kindle Fires shipping later this year.
