An alternative to Netflix? YouTube to offer 500 new titles for you to rent and watch instantly
Want to skip the drive to the video store or your local Redbox? Well, good news: Over 500 new on-demand movie titles are coming to YouTube thanks to a recent deal between the video-hosting site and Paramount studios.
According to YouTube, most of the titles will be added over the coming weeks. A number are already available however, from recent hits like Hugo to classic films such as The Godfather and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. A 48-hour rental will cost you $2.99; renting the movie in HD will cost a dollar extra.
The deal with Paramount means that YouTube and Google Play now have content deals with five of the six major movie studios. In total, nearly 9,000 movies are currently available for rental via the service.
