Wimbledon, Day 4: Nadal gets revenge as Isner remains perfect

When you hear the name Lukas Rosol, the first thing more tennis fans think of is Rafael Nadal. Rosol's most famous victory came over Nadal back in 2012 at this championship, beating Nadal in five-sets in the second round of Wimbledon after Nadal had made the finals here two years in a row.

Rosol looked like he would be up to those same tricks early in their match on Thursday, with the 28-year-old overpowering the 14-time Grand Slam champion to the tune of 6-4. The second set went to a tiebreaker with Nadal not playing his sharpest tennis, but Rosol gave away a few late points and Nadal ended up winning the tiebreaker and than settling into his normal self with third and fourth set wins to advance.

Nadal is now in the third round for the first time since 2011, but will have to stop getting off to such slow starts if he wants to make it late in the second week, as he has now dropped both opening sets in his first two matches.

Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova had much smoother matches, all winning in straight sets, while American John Isner made it to the third round of Wimbledon without dropping a single set, surprising considering Isner has never made it to the third round of Wimbledon in his career.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who was in a tight five-set battle with Sam Querrey on Wednesday before darkness pushed it to Thursday, was able to win that fifth set 14-12 to move on to play Jimmy Wang in their third round match.

The match of the day was also the upset of the day, as Nick Kyrgios took down No. 13 Richard Gasquet 3-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6, 10-8 in a match that saw the 19-year-old Kyrgios save nine match points against the more experience Gasquet.

Kyrgios said after the match that he was pleased with his first ever win coming back from two sets down at a Grand Slam, and the simple determination he showed when facing those break points to lose the match was really remarkable.

The match took nearly four hours, but it was Kyrgios who showed a bit more stamina when he broke Gasquet at love in the 17th game only to serve out the match to advance to the third round at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.

Novak Djokovic and Gilles Simon go at it on Friday at Wimbledon, while Venus Williams, Andy Murray and Li Na all get at it in the third round.
