Bloomberg challenges Obama, Romney to address gun violence following shooting

New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, a gun control advocate, on Friday challenged the presidential candidates to offer more than condolences following the Aurora, Colo., movie theater shooting.

"Soothing words are nice," Bloomberg said Friday morning on WOR radio. "But maybe it's time that the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they're gonna do about it," he said, in reference to gun violence hours after a shooting attack left at least 12 dead and an estimated 50 wounded in a suburban Colorado movie theater showing "The Dark Knight Rises."

"There's so many murders with guns every day, it's just got to stop," he added. "No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment ... we have a right to hear from both of them concretely ... what are they going to do about guns."
