Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard Law professor pressured out of a lead role with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), plans to enter Massachusetts' Senate race Wednesday, according to multiplesources, handing the Democratic party a major candidate recruitment win.
Warren will launch her campaign tomorrow morning to challenge Republican Sen. Scott Brown with a series of events with voters across the state, a senior campaign adviser confirmed to the Boston Globe, and she plans to release an online video which notes her anti-Wall Street focus.
After being passed over to head the CFPB earlier this year, Warren asked supporters in August to engage with her as she mulled a Senate bid. Her bid offers Democrats a high-profile candidate in the race against Brown as well as an opportunity to get back at Republicans who blocked Warren for the Bureau.
