Elizabeth Warren launches exploratory committee in Massachusetts Senate race

Elizabeth Warren is inching closer to a Senate bid in Massachusetts.

Warren, who had been President Obama's pick to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau before her nomination stalled in Congress, filed paperwork today to form an exploratory committee in the race.

And, as the Boston Globe's Glen Johnson reports, Warren also launched a new website to solicit cash and volunteers. While the site doesn't suggest Warren is yet a full-fledged candidate, her exploratory committee appears to be simply a formality.

Tim Tegaris, new media director at the Service Industry Employees Union, noted on Twitter the source code on Warren's site includes a message that says "I'm in. Are you?"

As The Ticket previously reported, Democrats have been pressing Warren to jump into the race for months, in hopes of getting a high profile challenger against Republican Scott Brown—who is seeking a full six-year term next year.
