Lots of empty seats at an Obama fundraiser in Miami

Has President Obama lost some of the allure he had on the campaign trail four years ago?

As the Miami Herald's Marc Caputo notices, a fundraiser for Obama's re-election campaign Miami last night wasn't a "packed to the rafters" event, as it might have been back in the 2008 campaign.

Just over half the venue's 2,200 seats were empty—in spite of the fact Obama was on hand with a big local celebrity, former Miami Heat star Alonso Mourning.

A Democratic source tells Politico's Carrie Budoff Brown that the party expected just 900 for the events—and roughly 980 attended.

Tickets for the event--which was aimed at younger voters--started at $44 and ranged as high $2,500, with the proceeds benefitting Obama's re-election campaign. The Obama campaign has said it plans to raise at least $750 million for his re-election bid--including at least $60 million this month alone.
