March unemployment rate, Gingrich on Fox, plus more to watch for this weekend in politics

There's not another GOP presidential primary until April 24. It's Easter weekend. It's Passover. It's relatively quiet on the politics front.

That doesn't mean there won't be some spin when the March unemployment figure comes out Friday morning. If it's a positive report, Republicans will say it's despite President Obama's policies. The White House will say it's because of Obama's policies. If it's a negative report, which is not expected, well, just reverse the spins.

As for the GOP hopefuls, they are dark on Friday. In fact, there are no campaign events scheduled this weekend. They are taking a break, and you are getting one.

If you need a fix by the time Sunday morning rolls around, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich will be on "Meet the Press," and Newt Gingrich will be on "Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace."

And then there is this: Michele Bachmann, former GOP hopeful, winner of the Ames Straw Poll and Republican representative from Minnesota, turns 56 Friday. And Mitch Daniels, Republican governor of Indiana who toyed — or was it teased? — with being a GOP hopeful, turns 63 on Saturday.
