By The May unemployment figure comes out this morning. Economists forecast that employers added 158,000 jobs last month, the Associated Press reports, and the rate is projected to remain at 8.1 percent. Whatever the figure turns out to be — up, down, unchanged — there will be fuel for political spin by Democrats and Republicans.
President Barack Obama will be on the road Friday. He has fundraisers in Minnesota, a general election battleground state, and in his home town of Chicago. He also will make a stop at Honeywell's Golden Valley facility in Golden Valley, Minn., to once again urge Congress to act on his "To Do List," which he says would keep the economy on track and stimulate job growth.
Donald Trump will speak Friday at the North Carolina State Republican Convention. (Will there be more "birther" talk?) And Tom Pawlenty speaks at the convention on Saturday.
Mitt Romney has fundraisers Friday and Saturday in California. He picked up former first lady Nancy Reagan's endorsement Thursday evening.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley heads to Wisconsin on Friday to campaign with Gov. Scott Walker, who faces a recall election Tuesday.
And then there is this: Expect a lot of analysis throughout the weekend on why the John Edwards trial played out the way it did, along with a little speculation on what's ahead for Edwards.
And this: Wondered where Vice President Joe Biden has been this week? Well, he has been at his home in Wilmington, Del., preparing for a wedding reception. His daughter Ashley marries Philadelphia doctor Howard Kein on Saturday.
