Mitt Romney will fly to Tampa Tuesday, ahead of his wife’s convention speech

BOSTON—Mitt Romney will fly to Tampa Tuesday, arriving in town just hours before his wife, Ann Romney, is expected to address the Republican National Convention.

The Romney campaign declined to say on the record what the presumptive Republican nominee will be doing in Tampa. But he's arriving in Florida two days earlier than expected.

Romney had been expected to touch down on Thursday, the day he is scheduled to accept the Republican presidential nomination. But his campaign abruptly announced a change of schedule late Monday, informing reporters he would fly early Tuesday morning to Tampa instead.

The GOP candidate is presumably heading to Tampa to hear his wife speak, although several aides declined to confirm that on the record. On Wednesday, Romney is scheduled to make a speech to the American Legion in Indianapolis.
