Monday in politics: Obama, Romney meet for final debate, and more

President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney face off at 9 p.m. EDT at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., for the third and final presidential debate.

CBS News' Bob Schieffer is the moderator, and the topic is foreign policy.

Obama's mission at the debate: Try to make Romney look like a risky bet, while emphasizing his own successes, Yahoo News White House Correspondent Olivier Knox reports. Romney's mission: Convince any doubting voters that he can handle foreign policy.

The debate takes place as polls show the presidential race tight — and getting tighter.

Also worth noting on Monday: Vice President Joe Biden campaigns in Ohio; Romney running mate Paul Ryan campaigns in Colorado; Rick Perry stumps for Romney in Nevada; Sen. Marco Rubio campaigns in Florida for Romney; and first lady Michelle Obama campaigns in Florida before attending the debate.

And then there is this: Count them. There are only 15 days left before voters head to the polls.

Rick Perry, the Texas governor and 2012 "oops" presidential candidate, is spending the beginning of this week in Connecticut. Perry, as the governor of Texas, has little on-its-face reason to be in Connecticut. Except, of course, for one: Texas's unemployment rate, which at 6.4 percent in April is significantly lower than the national average, is still not quite ideal. Perry wants to bring jobs to his state. And, as he sees it, some of those jobs could come from Connecticut.
