No deal announced following White House ‘fiscal cliff’ meeting

The Ticket

It doesn't appear that a White House meeting on the "fiscal cliff" Friday afternoon between President Barack Obama and congressional leaders yielded anything significant.

House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi all declined to speak to the press at the White House following their 3 p.m. meeting with the president—a clear sign that no deal has been made before the weekend to avoid the fiscal cliff, the automatic spending cuts and tax increases set to go into effect Jan. 1.

Vice President Joe Biden and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner were also in attendance Friday.
