President Obama pays his respects at Ground Zero

President Obama made a solemn visit to Ground Zero in New York today, placing a wreath where the World Trade Center towers once stood.

It was Obama's first visit to the site as president and his first since the death of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden, who was shot and killed by Navy SEAL officers in Pakistan Sunday after a nearly decade-long manhunt.

The president met with emergency responders and family members of those killed in the 9/11 attacks. "When we say will we never forget we mean what we say," Obama declared during a visit to a fire station that lost 15 crew members at the World Trade Center.
