Will she or won’t she? Sarah Palin travels to Iowa and New Hampshire amid speculation about a 2012 presidential bid

Sarah Palin provoked another bout of guessing about her 2012 intentions by announcing a trip to the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire while reportedly putting some ballyhooed Iowa plans on hold.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate--known for making last-minute scheduling changes, such as her decision to crash the Ames Straw Poll this month--was scheduled to appear at a Tea Party of America "Restoring America" rally in Indianola, Iowa, on Saturday. But the Wall Street Journal and other news outlets reported today (after some initial confusion about whether Palin had canceled) that Palin's appearance at the tea party rally is "on hold."

A Sarah PAC spokesperson told the Journal this morning that Palin's appearance is "no longer confirmed" citing "continual lying" from Tea Party of America organizers. But by the end of the day, Palin's appearance was reportedly back on.

Regardless of Palin's Tea Party of America appearance, she still plans other stops in Iowa this weekend. She is scheduled speak at a Des Moines event Friday sponsored by a group called Conservatives4Palin, the Journal reports.

Christine O'Donnell, the former Republican Senate candidate from Delaware, had been scheduled to speak on stage at Saturday's event, raising questions about O'Donnell upstaging or at least sharing the spotlight with Palin.

One event organizer announced yesterday there was a scheduling issue and organizers could not accommodate O'Donnell. Another organizer said the group chose to rescind its invitation in the "interest" of the tea party. But O'Donnell was reportedly back on the schedule Tuesday night.

Hours later on Wednesday morning, Palin's appearance was put "on hold" amid reports that O'Donnell had been uninvited yet again. And by the end of the day, Palin was reconfirmed as a speaker without O'Donnell in the event lineup.

Palin has said she will decide whether to run for president in 2012 by the end of September.

Earlier this month, Palin released a campaign-style video and Republican operatives, including the organizer of Saturday's rally, suggested Palin is poised to enter the race.

Update 5:25 p.m. EST: Story updated to include news Palin had been reconfirmed for Saturday's event in Iowa. O'Donnell was no longer slated to speak.
